On the request of the stakeholders, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the last date of receipt of written comments and counter comments on the consultation paper on Tariff issues related to TV services to 11th March and 25th March, respectively. It is also mentioned that no requests for any further extension of time for submission of comments shall be entertained.
However, the first consultant paper was issued on 29thJanuary and deadline for submitting the comments was 4thMarch and for counter comments was 18th March.
According to the consultation paper, TRAI will cater to innovative growth while protecting the interests of the stakeholders across the value chain, fulfilling the need to institute a consolidated technology neutral regulatory framework for digital addressable systems.
In view of the emerging trends in the TV broadcasting sector and changing consumption patterns of the consumers, TRAI said that there was a need to examine the tariff dispensation in a holistic manner.
